Mobile Mating: Northwest Alpacas will transport the stud male(s) to your farm for breeding. The distance traveled by Northwest Alpacas will most likely not extend beyond 250 miles one way. Also, there is a minimum of no less than two females to breed at any one location. Discounts will be given for 3 or more breedings. Also more than one male can be brought to your farm.

The requirements for a successful drive by breeding are:

1. The female must be approved for breeding by a vet. This is most important with a maiden female.
2. The female must be at the correct point in her follicular cycle, in other words she must be receptive to the male.
3. If this is a maiden female the hymen must be broken and reproductively mature enough to breed.
4. A teaser male can be used to test the female's receptivity one day before the mobile mating. Do not use a teaser male any sooner than twenty-four hours before the actual breeding because the female might ovulate and become non-receptive thereby wasting your time and travel. In the case of a maiden, a teaser male should be tested 7-10 days prior to see if she will accept a male.

The respective responsibilities of the mobile mating parties are:

1. Dam owner must complete the service agreement and mobile mating checklist prior to departure from Northwest Alpacas.
2. The owner of the female is responsible for establishing the pregnancy confirmation. Matings with receptive females result in a confirmed pregnancy after one mating, 65 - 70% of the time. This success ratio is higher for females that have just birthed a cria and a little lower for maiden females.
3. Northwest Alpacas will make a second trip if necessary within 30 days of initial breeding.
4. If female has not been confirmed after second breeding, the dam owner can transport the female to Northwest Alpacas for either a drive by breeding or on farm breeding at no additional charge.
5. The stud owner makes a Studmaster male available for repeat breedings if necessary, at no additional charge.
