This free workshop is the perfect learning experience for anyone who is researching the industry or is about to buy their first alpacas. You will learn how to do the everyday basics of animal care. You will learn breeding techniques and what to expect when you breed alpacas of varying qualities. You will gain knowledge of the continuum of excellence from the primitive type to the ideal alpaca. Learn how to identify the best male for your female.

VETERINARIAN CARE: With Dr. Paul Jones DVM and the staff of Northwest Alpacas.

Observe medical procedures that may include the following:

Ultrasounds
Blood Draws
Gelding
Wound care

Hands on with the staff of Northwest Alpacas:

You will learn how to:

Trim your alpacas toe nails
Micro chip your alpacas
Ear tag your alpacas
De-worm your alpacas
Vaccinate your alpacas

Learn how to conduct breedings by hand, in a pen and in the pasture

The day is organized to give prospective alpaca breeders a snapshot of what it takes to operate a successful ranch operation. This seminar is free and includes lunch with the Northwest Alpacas staff.

Getting Started in the Alpaca Business

1 Day Seminars

Price of $25 to $100.00 per person includes lunch and course materials. The one day seminars are free to clients that have purchased alpacas from Northwest Alpacas. Attendees may purchases a copy of either Ideal Alpacas: From Myth to Reality or The Alpaca Chronicles at the seminar rate of $75.00.

Price of $100.00 per individual, includes lunch, dinner and course materials for three days. For attendees who purchase alpacas or breedings from Northwest Alpacas, the seminar price will be credited toward their purchase.
